The Graduate Program in Global Studies (GPGS), Sophia University provides students the opportunity to pursue the dual degree with the Master of Arts in International Development Studies (MAIDS), Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand in two (or two and half) years. The dual degree program combines the strengths of GPGS and MAIDS in research and education, allowing students to design and develop theoretically rigorous and empirically rich research in Tokyo and Bangkok. Students will be able to take a variety of courses that focus on International Development, Environmental Politics, Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Water-Food-Energy Nexus, Human Rights, Migration, Conflict Management, and Public Policy. Students will have the opportunity to write a thesis jointly supervised by Sophia and Chulalongkorn faculty.

Students will typically study three semesters at Sophia and two trimesters at Chulalongkorn and, after fulfilling the requirements of the two programs, receive two degrees: an M.A. in Global Studies from

Sophia and an M.A. in International Development Studies from Chulalongkorn.
